We are so excited that highlands (a breed once considered 'at risk') are so popular on social media right now but just in case you are new to owning cattle/highlands, here are things to think about:

• Our highlands are purebred and "mid-size" cattle. At maturity they are generally 42 - 48" at the hook, in other words they are full size for this smaller breed. We have some that are and will remain much smaller but we are not selling them at this time.

• We believe that animals require regular handling to remain "friendly". While highlands are docile by nature and our highlands have excellent temperaments, we don't expect them to remain so without consistent contact.

• Highlands require up to 1 acre per 2 animals and simply must have shade and an ample source of water at all times.

• Cows are herd animals and require at least one other cow.
